One of Milton Keynes’ most colourful free festivals is returning to the city centre, bringing together art, science, technology, music and community for an evening of entertainment and discovery.

The City of Codes & Light Festival, organised by Milton Keynes Islamic Arts & Culture, will take place on Saturday 3 October 2026, with this year’s theme exploring Moon Colonies & Future Architecture.
Running from 6pm until 9.30pm, the free festival will transform parts of Central Milton Keynes through a programme of illuminated displays, performances and interactive activities.
Visitors can expect digital storyboards and light installations, a community lantern parade, interactive STEAM activities for young people, live music and family-friendly performances.
One of the highlights of the evening will be a special projection onto Christ the Cornerstone Church, creating a striking centrepiece once darkness falls.
The entertainment programme will also include a live performance from Northants Sings Out, who reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent in 2024.
STEAM FESTIVAL TO FOLLOW AT CENTRE:MK
The programme will continue later in October with a separate STEAM Festival at centre:mk on 20 and 21 October.
The two-day event will offer more opportunities for children and families to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through interactive space-themed experiences.
Activities will include space exploration, a Science Dome, lunar materials exhibitions and a Moon Colony Challenge.
Entry to the STEAM Festival will also be free.
