A local women’s community has reached an impressive fundraising milestone, with The Shenanigan Society raising and donating more than £10,000 to charities and good causes in just 18 months.

The Shenanigan Society was created to bring women together, helping them make new friends, try different experiences and bring more fun and laughter into their lives.
What began as a social community has also developed a strong charitable focus, with members, affectionately known as the Shenani’gals, raising thousands of pounds through monthly raffles, fundraising events, sponsored challenges and donations.
Charities and organisations to have benefited from the group’s fundraising include MK Act, Al’s Pals, Willen Hospice, Harry’s Rainbow, Happy Paws Puppy Rescue, Ailsa’s Aim, Emmaus Village Carlton and Macmillan Cancer Support.
However, the group’s contribution extends beyond financial donations.
Members have also collected ring pulls for the Purple Community Fund, knitted squares for a neonatal unit, winter clothing and essential supplies for Ukraine, as well as Christmas presents for a local women’s refuge.
Founder Jo Wareham said:
“To realise that, while doing all of that, we have also raised and donated more than £10,000 is quite overwhelming.”
She added:
“It just shows that friendship, cake, laughter and a few Shenanigans really can make a big difference!”
The Shenanigan Society continues to bring women together through regular meet-ups, social activities, workshops, interest groups and events, creating opportunities to build friendships, develop confidence and become part of a welcoming community.
The £10,000 milestone has been reached just 18 months after the group launched, and the Shenani’gals say they have no intention of stopping there.
The impact is already being recognised by the organisations supported. Ailsa’s Aim thanked the group for its contribution, saying:
“Thank you so much to The Shenanigan Society for supporting all of us charities.”
With friendship, community and giving back at its heart, The Shenanigan Society is now looking ahead to its next milestone and continuing its support for charities and good causes.
