A growing Milton Keynes community is creating a safe, relaxed space for young people dealing with grief.
Too Young To Grieve has been bringing people together through a variety of informal activities, including coffee chats, walks, pottery sessions and board games.
Throughout September, the community has continued to grow, providing opportunities for young people navigating grief to connect in relaxed and welcoming surroundings.
The group is deliberately different from a traditional grief support setting. There is no pressure for those attending to talk about their experiences, and people are welcome to attend even if they do not know anyone beforehand.
Some attend simply for the walk, others for a coffee and chat, while for many it is an opportunity to spend time with people who understand some of what they may be going through.
NEXT MILTON KEYNES MEET-UP
The group’s next gathering will take place at Howe Park Wood Café on Sunday 4 October at 10:15am.
Those attending will usually take part in a relaxed 40 to 45-minute walk, followed by an opportunity to have coffee and chat afterwards.
There is no expectation to discuss grief during the event. The emphasis is on gentle activity, friendship and connection, allowing everyone to participate at their own pace.
Too Young To Grieve hopes the meet-ups can provide another option for young people who may want connection and understanding without the formality or pressure they might associate with a conventional support group.
