Following completion of the on-site element of the ground investigations, the laboratory analysis stage is now underway. MK Council give a full update.

We expect that the final technical report will be completed by the end of January 2022. These findings will assist the structural engineers to design the foundations of the 202 new homes being built in Phase A of the regeneration project.
The pre-tender design work, to produce the detailed design specification and drawings, is continuing. This information will be used as the basis for the tenders from building contractors, which MK Council will be inviting in the spring.
As this is the last update before the festive season, we hope you have a lovely Christmas and a very happy new year.
Play areas update
Work has now started to install the first fully-refurbished play area on the Lakes Estate. Our contractors are on-site at Grasmere play area fitting lots of family-friendly activities including climbing frames, swings, roundabouts and nearby seating. We're planning to open the jungle-themed equipment to use in early January.
We can now share the 3D designs of what the Bala Way pirate-themed play area will look like. We expect work to start at Bala Way (see picture above) early next year, alongside the construction of the play area at Skene Close/Fern Grove which has been held back due to equipment supply, and for both of these play areas to be open for use by March.
Plans for the play area behind Gorman Place/Laidon are still being developed, but it’s hoped that an order can be placed for the equipment before the Christmas break. It’ll feature some unique features to make the most of its space galaxy theme.
We should be able to share 3D plans for the play area at Gorman Place/Laidon in our January update, with construction set to start in March.
In the new year our attention will turn to Warren Park, and we’ll be asking for help from the local community and secondary school pupils to tell us what they’d like to see. This will include developing a makeover plan for the resident dinosaur, to ensure he’s safe and well and lives to keep a watchful eye on future generations to come. We’ll share more information about this in future updates next year.
Courtyards update
Work to improve courtyard areas is progressing well and will continue throughout December and January. New seating and planters will be ordered before Christmas so that they can be installed in the new year. Due to the weather at this time of year, it’s not yet possible to turf the areas of bare earth while they’ve been seeded, and it’s going to take some time for the grass to establish. It’d be really helpful if the children could avoid playing on the mud to allow the grass to grow as quickly as possible.
Once the new planters are installed, we’d be interested to hear from any resident who’d like to ‘adopt’ them during the summer period. A small amount of regular weeding and occasional watering will make the world of difference to these features. If you’re green fingered and interested, please let us know!
