A new space themed play park has officially opened on the Lakes Estate, making it the final of four new play areas as part of the City Council’s major regeneration proposals for the estate.
The new park is located on Gorman Place on the Lakes Estate and has a range of fun activities for children, including a space rocket slide, zipwire and in-ground trampolines.
Cabinet Member for Adults, Housing and Healthy Communities, Cllr Emily Darlington officially opened the play park and was joined by a number of excited children and parents from the local area.
All four play areas are now complete, and the City Council continues to make improvements to the courtyards in the area. This forms part of Milton Keynes City Council’s major regeneration plans for the Lakes Estate, including the proposed building of over 200 council homes and new shops. The proposed development also includes improvements to public spaces and cycle networks.
“People on the Lakes Estate are beginning to see real change as we make progress to deliver on the regeneration proposals the community voted for. Regeneration is much more than just housing. We need to help improve people’s quality of life allowing them to live healthier and happier lifestyles. “My thanks go out to everyone involved in helping deliver these play parks which will have a lasting positive impact on the children’s health and wellbeing.”
