In 1971 a small group of local musicians set up The Sherwood Sinfonia, an amateur symphony orchestra, in Bletchley.
From those early days the orchestra has gone from strength to strength to become Milton Keynes Sinfonia, an amateur symphony orchestra 'par excellence', tackling major works in the concert repertoire.
Milton Keynes Sinfonia will have plenty of opportunity to demonstrate their newly acquired percussion instruments in the major work of their next concert - Benjamin Britten's 'Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra'.
The concert is on Saturday 19th March at the Chrysalis Theatre, starting at 7.30 pm, and will also include works by Brahms, Hindemith and Sibelius – his haunting 'Swan of Tuonela'.
