Bletchley Business Proud to Accept a Queens Award for International Trade

Last year, Bletchley based M&M Supplies UK PLC was awarded The Queens Award for International Trade, the most prestigious award that can be bestowed on any business by the Monarch.

This week they were delighted to receive the award from His Majesty’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Mr Alexander Boswell at a formal presentation held at the company in Bletchley with the Mayor of Milton Keynes Amanda Marlow amongst the guests.

M&M Supplies UK PLC has been operating out of Bletchley for more than 40 years. Today, the business distributes consumer goods on behalf of the World's leading manufacturers, including Mars, Proctor & Gamble, Nestle, Kraft Heinz, and Kelloggs.

Operating from their newly extended 7,000 pallet distribution centre, the company has grown their International markets by over 37% year on year for the past four years, all of this during a pandemic, whilst navigating their way in a post Brexit market, and in the midst of a cost of living crisis; making this achievement even more remarkable.

Frank Purcell, Managing Director, commented:

"I am extremely proud of the company for securing this amazing achievement. The award was only possible because of the entire team who work incredibly hard day in day out, serving customers in the UK and across Europe.

"We are very proud to fly the flag for Great Britain, we have worked hard to forge partnerships around the World, attending trade shows and finding new opportunities. However, we also spend huge amounts of time supporting our UK partners, this includes supporting Milton Keynes Foodbank with donations and logistical support.”

Mr Boswell said afterwards “Receiving the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category is a whole company success, and the business can feel justifiably proud of their achievement. Based as they are in the entrepreneurial heart of Britain, it is exciting to acknowledge the contribution which they have made to the prosperity of the county and to Milton Keynes. Along with the Lord-Lieutenant, The Countess Howe, I wholeheartedly encourage more businesses in Milton Keynes and across Buckinghamshire to consider applying for the Kings Award for Enterprise.”

Amanda Marlow, The Mayor of Milton Keynes added:

I first visited M&M Supplies last year, after they had received the happy news about the award. To be able to be here with the team and watch them receive the official award from the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Alexander Boswell is a very proud moment to witness. The team at M&M Supplies should be immensely proud of their success. Such an award highlights the dedication and passion of what they do.

“Not only will M&M Supplies be an ambassador for the country, they will be an ambassador for Milton Keynes, demonstrating and embodying our great city’s fantastic entrepreneurial spirit.

“I would also like to thank them for their incredible work with our Foodbank. This continues to be a very difficult time for households, with the cost of living a major challenge for many. Businesses like M&M Supplies continue to make a vital difference to the lives of many. Here in MK we have an extremely well organised Foodbank and that is, in no small part, down to the support provided by the team at M&M Supplies.”
