Free workshops and performances explore fashion, memory and identity

Milton Keynes - 18.06.25 – Do you have a favourite item of clothing that holds a special memory? A jacket with a story? A dress that’s travelled with you through the years?
From 14th – 17th July, residents of Milton Keynes are warmly invited to join a series of creative workshops at Unity Place that explore the rich stories hidden in our wardrobes.
Part of the IF: Milton Keynes International Festival, Who’s in Your Wardrobe? offers a welcoming and imaginative space to reflect on the clothes we wear – and why they matter.
Led by Dutch visiting artists from the renowned Zwermers collective, the free workshops take place from 5pm – 9pm in the Community Hall. Over four evenings, participants will be guided through gentle, engaging activities designed to spark memories, explore identity, and celebrate self-expression through fashion – no performance or modelling experience needed.
The project culminates on Saturday 19th July in two uplifting and joyful performances at Unity Place’s Station Side Foyer (12.45pm and 3.30pm), where participants will share their stories in their own unique way.
Everyone is welcome – especially those who:
Enjoy storytelling, fashion, or creative expression
Want to meet new people and take part in a shared community experience
Have a little time and curiosity to try something new
Have ever opened a wardrobe and smiled at the memories
Whether you join in for the workshops, the performance, or both – your presence and your story are what matter most.
Places are free but limited – sign up now to secure your spot.

Do you have a question about the event?
Do I need to attend every workshop? Participants should ideally attend all four evenings but if not possible the first and the last workshops are crucial.
Will there be any food or drink options available? There will be a break in the evening where participants can eat food bought in from home or go and get a meal at one of Unity Place’s outlets. There is a Kitchen to use in the space if required.
Do I need to bring my own clothes? Participants do not need to bring their own clothes.
What should I wear when I arrive? Anything they feel comfortable in.
