Homebirth's on the rise in Milton Keynes say MK Hospital

2020 saw a rise in succesful home births in Milton Keynes say MK Hospital.

The homebirth maternity team at MKUH have had an amazing 2020.

They have seen a huge rise in the number of women choosing to give birth in the comfort of their own homes and have only had around 25% of births needing to be transferred into hospital.

Homebirth's have risen by 45.7% since 2019.

One of the main reasons pregnant women have considering home births was due to the fear of contracting COVID-19 in a hospital. This could be a trend that continues to grow even after the pandemic is over.

Well done to the maternity team at MK Hospital who have continued to provide the highest level of care throughout the toughest of times.
