Installation of new mobile MRI scanners

Milton Keynes University Hospital install two new MRI scanners to help cope with increasing demand

''As part of plans to increase our imaging capacity, we are currently installing two mobile MRI units in the car park area outside of the Treatment Centre. The new units will enable our clinical teams to continue to provide the best possible care to patients and mitigate possible disruption to the service, ahead of the proposed development of our new Imaging Centre.

As well as delivering additional capacity, the units will come fully equipped with state-of-the-art MRI diagnosis technology, enable us to deliver 24 hour diagnostic support and increase our specialist MRI capacity to reduce the need for patients to be referred elsewhere.

Works to prepare the existing ground outside the Treatment Centre began on Monday 20 September, with all work – including the installation of the new units – expected to be completed within eight weeks.

Throughout the duration of the project, access into and out of the Treatment Centre, as well as into the main hospital will be maintained. Signage will be in place to direct patients accordingly.''
