The Liberal Democrats have selected James Cox for the new seat Milton Keynes Central as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced a General Election.
Liberal Democrat candidate James Cox will be campaigning for action to tackle the cost of living crisis, the NHS crisis and the sewage scandal.
James Cox, a secondary school teacher, will be campaigning to stop sewage being dumped into the River Ouzel, better access to NHS dentists in Milton Keynes, and for more support in schools for children with SEND.
The Liberal Democrats are on the up after beating the Conservatives at the May local elections and winning four stunning parliamentary by-election victories since the last General Election. In the local elections in May, Liberal Democrats won four councillors, the most of any party, and have the same number of councillors in the seat as Labour. The Conservatives were a distant third with just one councillor in the new seat.
Responding to Rishi Sunak calling a General Election, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Milton Keynes Central, James Cox said:
“For years our area has been taken for granted by an out-of-touch Conservative Government that has failed to get the basics right and lurched from crisis to crisis - now it’s time for a change.
“Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rent have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country.
"At the most recent council election in MK Central, the local Liberal Democrats won the most number of seats and have the same number of councillors as Labour. The Conservatives are out of the race in our area.
“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for a fair deal. It’s a vote for a party that will stand up for our community and our health services.”
