Milton Keynes Council has pledged its support for Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign, and is asking more local people to be #LitterHeroes.

During the last year, people have relied on local parks and green spaces for walks, somewhere to exercise and to play.

The charity has reported a massive increase in the number of residents who have started litter-picking during the lockdowns, with the number of #LitterHeroes growing by a third in less than 12 months.

The Great British Spring Clean runs from 28 May – 13 June 2021. It calls on the public to help the charity achieve a million miles of litter-picking.

MK Council is offering to lend local people and groups litter pick kits free of charge. Visit our website for a list of where you can collect them nearest to you, and visit the Keep Britain Tidy website to check if your local area is already taking part in a clean-up.

The Great British Spring Clean, now in its sixth year, brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to make a difference to the environment on our doorstep. In 2019, more than half a million #LitterHeroes collected just under a million bags of litter, weighing around 4,308 tons.
