MK Labour has launched its fully costed 2026 Local Election Manifesto, setting out an ambitious plan to continue work in delivering a successful city for everyone.

Labour Press Release: Under Labour’s leadership, Milton Keynes has become one of the most successful and well‑run councils in the country.
Earlier this month, a Delivery Plan report confirmed Labour’s strong track record in Milton Keynes, showing that the administration has delivered 95% of its ambitious Council Plan actions for the city, with a small number still progressing. This record includes keeping the council financially stable, investing in services that matter to residents, fixing a pothole every 12 minutes, building new affordable homes, protecting vital children’s and adults’ services, and supporting thousands of local families through hard times.
The new fully costed manifesto, launched today, builds on that record with a plan focused on value for money services, safer communities, better health provision, more opportunities for young people, new council homes, infrastructure‑led growth, and a cleaner, greener future for the whole city.
MK Labour is pledging to fix 6000 extra potholes, deliver three new health centres, tackle anti‑social behaviour, support local high streets, improve access to childcare, and help thousands more families with the cost of living.
MK Labour also pledges in its 2026 manifesto to fix 500 broken streetlights, restore pride in communities with more enforcement on graffiti, littering and fly tipping and to ban pavement parking, by using new powers from the Labour government.
Cllr Lauren Townsend, Labour Deputy Leader at Milton Keynes City Council, said:
“Under Labour leadership, we’ve shown what a well‑run, financially stable and forward‑looking council can deliver for our city. We’ve made Milton Keynes a great place to live by protecting vital frontline services, while other councils are cutting them. We’ve kept council tax low, with Milton Keynes residents paying less than our neighbours. We’ve focused on value for money, fixing a pothole every 12 minutes, we’ve maintained strong children’s services and been recognised as one of the top ten places in the country for adult social care.
“Labour has already helped thousands of local families through the cost-of-living crisis, supported people to pay their bills, and built hundreds of new council houses and affordable homes with the infrastructure communities need to thrive. This manifesto sets out a clear and costed plan to continue delivering for local people, ensuring Milton Keynes remains a successful city for everyone.”
