OB City FC raising money for Mental Health

OB City is a Milton Keynes based sports club that was created by two men who have a passion for supporting the community, with improving mental and physical health.

Co-Founder of OB City Chris Geary told us,

''David and I just want to help as many men and women in MK as we can. Everyone has mental health as well as having physical health, and it is just as important to look after your mental health as it is your physical health. We want to help everyone we can, through whatever method we can. We currently have football and running, mindfulness sessions, soon to have cycling, all with professional paid coaching too.''

In 2020 the club were awarded 'FA Grassroots Club of the Year 2020' for going above and beyond in keeping people motivated and working hard throughout lockdown and covid times, including online mental health sessions, running, and football where they were able.

The club also offers its member mindfulness sessions, Chris tells us more.

''We also support our members by offering free mindfulness sessions to aid mental health improvement. The club pays for it, and this is essentially why we need funds, because usually we would make an income from our two football teams which helps pay for our mindfulness sessions and right now we have no income, but still pay for our mindfulness sessions to support our members.''

The club is hosting a fundraiser where each member is being challenged to clock up as many running miles as they can between 8th and 22nd February.

All money raised goes back into supporting the mindfulness sessions organised by the club.

If you can donate, please do. This is a hugely worthy cause.
