Petition launched calling for more dentists in MK

Local Liberal Democrat councillors have launched a petition to help local families who are struggling to access NHS dentists.

Newport Pagnell South Councillor Jane Carr launched the petition after hearing from residents who are struggling to receive treatment, with some unable to register themselves and their families with local NHS dentists at all.

The petition is calling on the government to improve the dentistry contract to support the recruitment and retention of NHS dentists in Milton Keynes.

Councillor Carr said: “Not enough is being done by the government to help families in Milton Keynes who are struggling to access NHS dentists.”

“We’re now in a situation where some people are forced to choose between suffering with their dental health, or forking out for expensive private dentists.”

“For many people, private treatment is completely out of the picture when they can’t even pay their energy bills or afford their food shop because of the cost-of-living crisis.”

“We need the government to step up and improve the dentistry contract, so that the people of Milton Keynes aren’t turned away, and so they can access NHS care when they need it.”
