From Monday 5 July we’ll be replacing 46 street light columns in Hanslope. This should take around 3-4 weeks to complete.
The existing concrete columns are being replaced with grey steel ones of the same height. Most of these new columns will be put back in the same location as the ones removed however some will be slighty relocated around underground utilities.
It will be necessary to close off some sections of the footway to create a safe working site however these closures will be temporary.
We will also be coordinating these works with our LED street lighting upgrade and will be converting the older, inefficient style lights at the same time. By converting to LED we can lower our energy consumption and reduce maintenance costs. LEDs allow us to direct the light exactly where it is needed onto the highways and they also help to reduce light pollution.
