Angela was visiting to support Labour candidate Callum Anderson who is contesting the new Buckingham and Bletchley seat, one of the three new seats in Milton Keynes that the Labour Party is fighting to win on 4 July.
Ms Rayner was met in Tattenhoe by local Labour Party activists and campaigners from across Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire, and spoke about the need for change in Milton Keynes after 14 years of Conservative government in Westminster. She spoke about the need to grow the economy to be able to invest in the NHS and better policing, alongside her ambition to ensure a new deal for working people.
Callum Anderson was joined by Emily Darlington (MK Central) and Chris Curtis (MK North) at the event which formed part of the Labour Deputy Leader’s tour of seats the party is looking to win in the upcoming election.
Angela Rayner Deputy Leader of the Labour Party said:
“It is fantastic that at the local elections in May the Labour Party won a majority on Milton Keynes City Council for the first time in 28 years. Now people have the chance to change the country too.
I’m pleased to be supporting such a fantastic candidate in Callum Anderson here in Buckingham and Bletchley. I know if he is elected Callum will work hard on the issues that matter to local people and be an MP that is on the side of working people, alongside our two other fantastic candidates in Milton Keynes, Emily and Chris.”
Callum Anderson, Labour candidate in Buckingham and Bletchley said:
“It was wonderful to have Angela and the Labour Party Battlebus in Tattenhoe. Labour is fighting for every vote in the new seat of Buckingham and Bletchley which we need to win to ensure we can change our country, and take action on cutting NHS waiting lists, get more teachers into our schools and more community police on our streets.”
Emily Darlington, Labour candidate in Milton Keynes Central said:
“It was great that so many wonderful Labour Party activists and supporters are coming out to help to elect three Labour MPs for Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire because they want change, and it was fantastic that Angela Rayner was able to come and inspire us with what a Labour government mean for hardworking people.”
Chris Curtis, Labour candidate in Milton Keynes North said:
“Everyday we are speaking to hundreds of people who are telling us they want change after 14 years of Conservative failure. Angela Rayner and Keir Starmer have changed the Labour Party since the last General Election and her visit has given us a real boost to carry on working hard so people can placed their trust in Labour on Thursday 4 July.”
