A Just Giving page has been set up for a new initiative that the family of Captain Sir Tom Moore have started to honour his life.
Taken from their page, Daughter Lucy Teixeira said, ''It is with great sadness that our father, Captain Sir Tom Moore, died on 2nd February. His funeral is coming up and many friends, family and new acquaintances have asked us about a tribute, please plant a tree instead of cut flowers and cards.
This gesture will honour his love of nature and the natural world. He has inspired the world in the last year, bringing hope for the future. He, like every Grandparent, saw the future of the world through his Grandchildren and he voiced his concern about what the future holds.
He was a man of action as everyone knows, and so, in tribute to his life, his achievements and influence; with thoughts of his Grandchildren and everyone's Grandchildren around the world, his message of hope, and that the sun would always shine, I would like to offer the chance to plant a tree with The Woodland Trust.''
