UK Astronomy Festival - Astronomy in April

UK Astronomy’s mission is to educate, inspire and enthuse by sharing our passion for space.

We do this by offering astronomy outreach and public engagement for anyone who thinks space is awesome and wants to find out how it works!

From 1st to 30th April 2021, national charity UK Astronomy will be hosting its first ever Online Astronomy Festival. We will be joined by a host of guest speakers including Nasa Solar System Ambassador Janelle Harrier-Wilson, Astro photographer Wil Cheung from Wil Photography, author of sky guides Richard Bartlett, Mark Taylor from TGP Nominal, UK Astronomy youngest volunteer 8-year-old Aston Smith will also be running a session, and even more guest speakers to be confirmed.

The UK Astronomy festival is a month-long festival of free talks and events aimed at beginners to inspire them to go out and look up! As its the Easter holidays and the last month for dark nights in the astronomy season we thought it’s a great time to celebrate this awesome hobby. We have lots of talks for you from science experiments to a tour of the solar system, there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

“This is our first online festival, and we are really hoping it will inspire more people to go outside and look up at the amazing objects in our night sky. “Because there are a billion worlds in your back garden…” Founder, Ross Hockham
