Conservative MP Candidate Vows to Intensify MK Hospital’s Record Investment

Milton Keynes University Hospital has seen the delivery of major improvement projects in recent years. Hundreds of millions of pounds have been secured with the help of the local Conservative MP Ben Everitt.

The investments have included a new Main Entrance, Academic Centre and Cancer Centre. The Maple Centre development opened in October 2022, transforming the emergency care offer for patients.

Thanks to the efforts of Ben Everitt and Iain Stewart, MK Hospital was also included in the government’s New Hospital Programme; the most extensive national hospital improvement programme in a generation. The programme will see a new Women’s and Children’s Hospital by 2030.

The funding for the project has been secured, business planning is underway and the Conservative Government has given its commitment to delivery by 2030.

Ben Everitt, Conservative MP Candidate for MK North said: “I am so proud of the hospital and the improvements that have been made over the past five years. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic pressures our hospital and the amazing staff have gone from strength to strength.

“I was delighted to be able to play a role and help secure the record amount of funding for the Women and Children’s hospital, alongside other recent investments. But my plans for our hospital don’t stop there; I am determined to help it grow further, with additional local offerings for patients.

“Labour have decided to back the already secured Women and Children’s Hospital, but as ever they have no plan of their own. No ideas, no delivery and an awful record running our local Council.”

Ben’s plan for MK Hospital:

• Ensure delivery of the Women and Children’s hospital by 2030

• Support for the new state-of-the-art radiotherapy centre

• Boost investment in technology, with a re-fit across wards as part of the new hospitals programme

• Relieve pressure on MK hospital with expansion of local surgeries including in Hanslope and Olney
