Woburn Safari Park has shared the sad news that their much loved lionesses, Abi and Tullulah, have been peacefully put to sleep after reaching an advanced age and developing health conditions that began to affect their comfort and quality of life.

In recent weeks, it became clear that their conditions had progressed beyond what could be managed while still maintaining the comfort and dignity they deserved. Following careful assessment and thoughtful discussion, the decision was made to let them go peacefully.

Abi, aged 20, and Tullulah, aged 22 and one of the oldest lions in European zoos, were cherished members of the pride. They were known for their close bond and calm, steady nature.

They lived long and full lives at the park, and their loss is deeply felt by the dedicated teams who cared for them. Woburn Safari Park has thanked the community for keeping their keepers and the pride in their thoughts during this difficult time.
