Up to 500 local people are expected to attend an annual event for children and families with special educational needs and disabilities.
This year’s SEND Information Day takes place on Saturday 4 February (9:15am – 3:45pm) and will bring together more than 30 organisations to share advice, resources and access to local charities and services. The one-day event is taking place at The Ridgeway Centre in Wolverton with free parking for visitors.
Open to all families living in Milton Keynes, the info day is hosted in partnership between the City Council’s SENDIAS service and PACA MK (Parent Carer Forum). The packed programme includes workshops for parents/carers and activities for young people plus some short talks including a dad’s perspective on the journey through SEND.
Whilst workshops for parents and carers are now fully booked, families who have yet to express their interest are still encouraged to pop down as there will be plenty to see.
“We are very much looking forward to seeing families in person after two years. Families tell us this is an invaluable event to meet health and education professionals and ask any direct questions they have as well as meeting other parents on the same journey. We have a number of workshops ranging from supporting distressed behaviours to post-16 support.” - Susan Akhtar, Chair of PACA
“After two years of online events, we’re delighted to bring families back together for our annual SEND Information Day. This year’s theme is around personal journeys and there’s a packed programme of workshops designed for parents and carers of children and young people aged under 25 living with special educational needs and disabilities. "I want to thank our partners and Council colleagues who have put so much work into this event and we look forward to seeing young people and their families.” - Cllr Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families
