Members from Be Military Fit, the UKs biggest outdoor fitness provider, teamed up to do some socially distanced litter picking in our local parks.
Owner Rob Francis, an ex Royal Marine and Parachute Regiment officer, told us,
''It was all the idea of our members! They had seen a local initiative led by the Ahmadiyya Muslim youth group And thought that we should do our part to contribute! So over the weekend we organised into pairs and chose to litter pick at Campbell Park and around our energie Fitness gym, in Kiln Farm.
Many people turned up to help the cause which shows the strong community spirit throughout Milton Keynes.
''It was staggering the amount that the guys picked up in such a small area! Bags and bags of rubbish, ranging from alcohol bottles to cans, plastic bottles to an old cassette tape and even a jacket!! As an outdoor fitness group it’s important to us that we do our part to keep our local environment clean and tidy!''
''We’ve decided that this will become a regular fixture in our calendar. I guess the message to people is- that we are lucky to have such an incredible local environment with wonderful outdoor spaces. I’ve lived in so many towns and cities that just don’t have this luxury.''
Rob finished off with a simple message.
''Please respect your surroundings and take rubbish home and put it in the bin!''
