At 0930hrs builders on the hospital site drilled through a mains water pipe. This has resulted in the loss of mains water to the hospital.
The majority of wards and clinical areas are able to use water reserve tanks to maintain access to water, and these are currently being used to minimise disruption to services whilst the mains water pipe is repaired.
The full extent of the issue and the timescale for recovering the mains water supply is still being assessed. The hospital has declared an internal incident because of the potential for disruption to services if repairs are unable to be undertaken quickly.
Patients are currently advised to attend the hospital as normal for planned appointments.
The hospital intranet and website will be regularly updated with the latest information.
