Independent venue Unit Nine in Milton Keynes has been shortlisted for the major industry award “Venue That You Remember The Most”, marking another milestone for the venue as it celebrates its 10th official year.

Since opening its doors, Unit Nine has built a reputation as one of the UK’s standout independent venues. Known for its high-energy events and carefully curated line-ups, the venue has welcomed some of the biggest names in electronic music including Chase & Status and Andy C, alongside familiar household names such as Martin Kemp and Craig Charles. The venue has also become known for hosting hugely popular themed day parties, helping establish it as a major destination for dance music fans.
Over the years, thousands of clubbers have travelled to Unit Nine from cities right across the UK, helping cement its reputation as a destination venue rather than just a local venue. The venue has also welcomed international visitors, with some fans even flying in from Europe specifically to attend its events.
Despite its national reach, Unit Nine has remained proudly independent and community-driven. The venue has become a hub for Milton Keynes’ nightlife scene while maintaining a close connection with its local audience.
Co-owner Jamie Stimpson said the nomination reflects both the venue’s growth and the support of the community around it.
“We’re incredibly excited to be nominated for this award. This is our 10th official year and it’s been an amazing journey so far. What makes Unit Nine special is the community that has grown around it, from the people who come through the doors every week to the artists and promoters who help bring the venue to life. Over the years we’ve built something that feels bigger than just a venue. It’s a place where memories are made. To win this award would really cement what the community around Unit Nine has built together and what makes it such a special place.”
The award is organised through Skiddle, one of the world’s leading event ticketing and discovery platforms, connecting millions of music fans globally with club nights, festivals and live events.
The ceremony itself will take place in the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, one of the UK’s most famous entertainment venues. The event will be hosted by celebrated comedian and actor Lenny Henry, bringing together leading venues and promoters from across the industry.
