Milton Keynes Business Owner Issues Warning After Phone Contract Ordeal Leaves Her Out of Pocket

A local business owner has shared her experience after what she describes as a frustrating and costly situation involving telecoms provider Onecom, urging others to be more cautious before agreeing to new contracts.

Samantha Poole says she was contacted by a caller who appeared to represent Vodafone, discussing the end of her existing contract and options to upgrade. Believing she was dealing directly with her long term provider, she agreed to a new deal that included a handset.

It was only later that she realised the agreement was with a separate company.

Weeks on, Samantha says she has still not received the phone she was promised. She was informed that her original choice was out of stock and agreed to an alternative, but the replacement has also failed to arrive. Despite this, payments have already been taken from her account, including a higher amount than she says was originally agreed.

The disruption has impacted her ability to run her business, with delays to SIM cards leaving her temporarily without phone access. She also describes repeated difficulties when trying to contact the company, including calls being cut off and a lack of clear communication.

Because the contract was taken out under her business, Samantha says she is now tied into a long term agreement, making it difficult to exit despite the issues she has experienced.

She has formally requested cancellation, a refund, and written confirmation that no further charges will be applied, and is prepared to escalate the matter if necessary.

However, beyond resolving her own situation, Samantha says her main aim now is to warn others.

She is urging both individuals and business owners to take extra care when receiving unexpected sales calls, particularly when the caller references an existing contract.

She stresses the importance of verifying exactly who you are speaking to and not assuming they represent your current provider. She also recommends checking independent review platforms before agreeing to any deal, especially when it involves long term commitments or business contracts.

Her experience serves as a reminder that a quick decision over the phone can lead to long term consequences, and that a few extra minutes spent double checking could prevent significant stress and financial loss.
