Independent Milton Keynes venue Unit Nine has officially cemented itself as one of the UK’s standout nightlife destinations after picking up a major honour at the prestigious Skiddle Awards.

The Wolverton-based venue, known for its warehouse atmosphere, huge laser productions and heavyweight DJ bookings, fought off competition from clubs and music spaces across the country to claim national recognition. It marks a huge moment not only for the venue itself, but for Milton Keynes’ nightlife scene as a whole.
Over the last few years, Unit Nine has quietly built a cult following among ravers and music lovers, with clubbers travelling from across the UK to experience events inside the converted industrial space.
Despite holding around 500 people, the venue has developed a reputation for creating the kind of electric atmosphere normally associated with much larger clubs.
From sold-out drum and bass nights to house music takeovers and large-scale themed events, the venue has consistently attracted internationally recognised artists while also giving opportunities to upcoming local DJs trying to break into the scene.
What makes Unit Nine stand out, though, is the balance between high-end production and community feel. Regular visitors often praise the venue’s welcoming staff, tight-knit crowd and immersive visuals, with its balcony laser shows becoming something of a trademark among returning ravers.

Speaking after the win, the team at Unit Nine said: “It's something that we're going to take back to Milton Keynes and shout about. To be recognised by a company like Skiddle, that's national, goes a long way in showing everything that we've done and how hard we've worked. We think Skiddle is amazing. No one does what Skiddle does, they really have helped lift us to where we are now, so we really appreciate them.”
Skiddle Founder, Richard Dyer, also reflected on the company’s milestone anniversary and the success of the awards night.
He said: “What a night! 25 years in an industry like this is a huge achievement for any business and we knew we had to celebrate it, bringing together people who have been on that journey with us over the last 25 years.
“A huge congratulations to all the award winners. And to keep the celebrations alive for those who sadly couldn’t join us for the party, there’s still a chance for you to bag yourself some free tickets to your favourite show.”
TV personality and DJ Gok Wan also praised the platform during the celebrations, saying: “25 years of delivering happiness to millions of people around the world, proving that the party must survive, thank you Skiddle!”
The Skiddle Awards are widely regarded as one of the UK nightlife industry’s biggest public-voted awards, making the win an even bigger achievement for an independent venue from Milton Keynes competing against long-established clubs from major cities.
For many local music fans, the award feels like proof that Milton Keynes is finally starting to gain recognition as more than just a stop between London and Birmingham. Venues like Unit Nine are helping build a genuine identity for the city’s nightlife culture, one packed dancefloor at a time.
For anyone who has experienced a sold-out night inside Unit Nine, the award probably feels fully deserved.
