Summer of Play returns to MK with more than 33,000 FREE activity sessions for young people

Milton Keynes Council is delivering more than 33,000 FREE activity sessions for children and young people this summer.

The council-funded Summer of Play programme has become a welcome boost to struggling local families and covers hundreds of different activities, from circus skills to robotics to photography workshops.

Taking place between 1 and 25 August, each session includes FREE food and at least four hours of activities. Events will run across 50 locations, with a wide range of sports, crafts, cookery, music and activities for children of all ages.

The full programme is available to all families living in MK and can be viewed online at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/HAF. To book spaces, families should contact providers directly using the contact details within the programme. The programme will be updated daily to reflect any sessions that are fully booked.

“Our Summer of Play is back and is available to all families across the city. We understand that it’s a tough time for everyone which is why we have increased local funding to ensure all children and young people can take part. Nobody should be left out and our providers are able to cater their events for those with special educational needs and disabilities.

We've had huge support from our school community and are excited to be offering even more places and additional activities alongside healthy free meals. We’re pleased to be building on the success of last year and look forward to seeing many of you over the summer.”

- Cllr Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families

This year, Milton Keynes Council worked with 40 local clubs, charities, schools and organisations to provide activities alongside its own activities in Children and Family Centres, the Youth Service and MKC Music Hub.
