The Milton Keynes Peace and Justice Network is marking International Women’s Day with two powerful events focused on peace, justice, and solidarity.

These gatherings will honour the role of women in resisting war and oppression while bringing the community together to reflect, share, and take action for a more just world.
Event 1: Travelling Vigil for International Women’s Day
📅 Friday, 8 March 2025
📍 Milton Keynes Central Railway Station
⏰ 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Organised by High Wycombe Palestine Solidarity Campaign, this moving vigil will feature three long lines of baby grows, symbolising the thousands of children killed in Gaza. Volunteers are needed to help hold these lines—each requiring 15-20 people—and all are encouraged to bring friends, family, and visual displays such as signs, flags, and teddies.
The vigil will include short speeches and a moment of remembrance before continuing its journey through Buckinghamshire, stopping next in Aylesbury.

Event 2: Women’s Iftar & Conversation for Peace
📅 Tuesday, 11 March 2025
📍 Centrecom, Central Milton Keynes, MK9 3BJ
⏰ 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Join an inspiring group of women from Milton Keynes, the UK, and beyond for an evening of conversation and storytelling about life as women striving for peace and justice. This event will weave together personal experiences, explore the intersections of various struggles, and build connections across communities.
The evening will begin with Maghrib Salah (prayer) at 5:30 PM, followed by a vegetarian bring-and-share iftar. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share (clearly labelled with ingredients). Everyone is welcome—just show up!
🌿 Support Palestinian Women & Fair Trade 🌿
Fair trade handicrafts made by women from the Hebron Cooperative and Palestine Fairtrade produce will be available for purchase at the event, providing a direct way to support Palestinian communities.
Accessibility: Centrecom is wheelchair accessible. Please get in touch for support with other accessibility requirements at 07719856494.
A spokesperson for the Milton Keynes Peace and Justice Network said:
"International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate the resilience of women worldwide and to stand in solidarity against war, oppression, and injustice. These events are a call to action, a space for remembrance, and an opportunity to unite in the pursuit of peace. We encourage the community to join us in making their voices heard."
The Milton Keynes Peace and Justice Network invites all who believe in human rights, peace, and justice to participate in these events.
